It was upon returning home to Southern California from a teaching job in Lagos, Nigeria almost two years ago that  brought writer-producer-director T. Faye Griffin face-to-face with her inner visual artist, tperiod.


One restless evening while missing the sights and sounds of the vibrant city  where everyone looked like her, she picked up a pencil for the first time and began to sketch "the faces of beautiful Black men." No one was more surprised than she by this untapped ability to capture the pride and dignity, as well as the vulnerability of her subjects.

The self-taught portrait artist considers herself "still very much emerging" as she continues to experiment with topics, techniques and mediums--including acrylics, pastels, watercolor, and digital.
